Organization DEF used Twigma's stakeholder management features to align diverse interests and maintain clear communication throughout a complex multi-year hydroelectric facility upgrade.

A Complex Stakeholder Landscape

The Riverside Hydroelectric Restoration Project presented Organization DEF with their most complex stakeholder management challenge to date. The initiative involved upgrading a 70-year-old hydroelectric facility to improve both energy efficiency and environmental outcomes for local fish populations. The project required coordination between federal and state environmental agencies, three Indigenous nations, local government officials, energy utility representatives, environmental advocacy groups, and community members.

Each stakeholder group had different priorities, communication preferences, and information needs. Early project meetings were chaotic, with participants expressing frustration about receiving either too much irrelevant information or not enough detail about issues that mattered to them. The Organization DEF team recognized that without better communication infrastructure, the project risked derailment from stakeholder conflicts.

Customized Communication Portals

Twigma's stakeholder management capabilities provided a solution by allowing Organization DEF to create customized information portals for each stakeholder group. Environmental agencies received detailed technical updates about fish passage improvements, while community groups accessed simplified progress reports and scheduling information for public comment periods. Everyone could see what they needed without being overwhelmed by extraneous details.

The platform's notification system proved particularly effective at keeping stakeholders engaged without creating alert fatigue. Instead of blanket emails about every minor project update, stakeholders received targeted notifications about decisions and milestones relevant to their interests. This selective approach maintained engagement throughout the multi-year project timeline.

Executive Director at Organization DEF

"92% of stakeholders reported feeling well-informed throughout the project, compared to 54% on our previous initiative."
